Turkish 737-800 crashes at Schiphol
Posted on Wednesday, February 25 @ 03:55:14 CST by kevindg

A Turkish Air 737-800 has crashed on approach to Schiphol International Airport in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Early reports indicate at least some of the passengers and/or crew have somehow escaped harm, however pictures from the scene indicate the aircraft broke into pieces in a field short of the runway. No fire was apparent. The flight originated in Istanbul.

Investigators announced Saturday, February 28 that they are focusing on turbulence as a possible cause of the crash - either caused by a wind shear or potential wake turbulence from a 757 that landed just ahead of the 737-800. More details here.

A new free mission recreating the conditions leading up to the crash is available by clicking here.
